Instead of dedicated hardware, virtualized, software-defined production tools now run on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) servers. These COTS servers, utilizing the ST 2110 protocol, host production software for tasks like multiviewing, signal processing, replay, and more. Instead of deploying trucks, server racks inside production cabins are used, and the production team experiences no difference—no latency and no workflow disruptions.

This new solution reduces the required space by at least 25% and significantly cuts down on energy consumption. Less space, lower power usage, and affordable prices thanks to COTS products represent a disruptive innovation. Additionally, the scalability in such virtualized environments is a major advantage. It also simplifies hardware configuration, reducing complexity to an abstract layer where software operates through remote or even automated configurations.
